Food & Travel Memphis Taproom

Two memos regarding Memphis Taproom.
First and foremost, the joint is roughly 1,000 miles from Tennessee, so do not even think about calling a taxi for a lift if you are vacationing on Beale Street. Secondly, do not hang your head in shame if the craft beer menu causes your English- reading eyes to suddenly believe they are staring at Mandarin script. This is not your standard chain restaurant.
Philadelphia once was home to a city that booed Santa Claus and cheered for the Broad Street Bullies. They still do. Only in recent years, the city’s secret hub of culinary mastery has leaked to the public. And it goes beyond cream cheese and cheese steak. At Memphis Taproom, a comfortable and quirky little place founded by three equally comfortable and quirky owners, expect the hip-minus the pretentiousness. As they will tell you themselves, the beer selection is founded on the laurels of a refreshing mantra; quality over quantity. The wine list contains varietals meant to be enjoyed, not discussed. And well traveled Executive Chef Jesse Kimball, maestro of all things seafood/bbq/organic, has created an eclectic offering that is Feng Shui on a plate. Even suffering vegetarians like myself can enter the venue without reservation (ironically, none are needed here), as the fare is fair for herbivores and carnivores alike.
Finally in the City of Brotherly Love, universal applause abounds.
