Archie Bunker's Chair

The Story : It was something that belonged on the curb with the usual Wednesday trash collection, a four legged piece of furniture routinely found at garage sales and the basements of grandparents everywhere.

It is a symbol of American history.

Archie Bunker, the groundbreaking old guard character who forever altered the landscape of television and societal norms, he the (in)famous malapropism machine, hashed out the taboo subjects of our world while sat defiantly in his chair. From race to religion, politics to women’s lib, the lovable yet misinformed Bunker excavated every layer of the topics that were typically reserved for hushed tones in the privacy of living rooms.

Bunker’s living room-an entire nation. His pulpit-a mangy old chair.
